Zhouzhuang Water Town

Suzhou, China (2017)

Zhouzhuang Water Town, one of the most famous water townships in China, is located in south east of Suzhou. My daughter and I arrived early morning in Shanghai and took the bullet train to Suzhou. It’s about 30min high-sped train ride and another 40 min by taxi to the ancient city. The town has a long history dating from 700BC and still to these days have a very well-preserved ancient residential houses and  elegant water ways. They have a very strong local colored traditions and customs. The water town is surrounded and divided by lakes and rivers and a lot of stone arch bridges. I can see why a lot of Chinese paintings are inspired by this place, it is absolutely picturesque.
