Mount Fuji

Hakone-Izu, Japan

Mount Fuji is the highest peak in Japan and second highest active Volcano after Mount Kerinci in Indonesia and part of the volcanic chain in the Pacific ring of fire. I have a strong fascination with volcanoes and the Himalayas ever since I was young. In the Philippines we have Mount Mayon, a “perfect cone” stratovolcano as they say. Then I climbed Taal Volcano 3 times (small active volcano) and was about to climbed Mount Agung in Bali but was prohibited because of heavy rain a day early. On the 2nd day of our backpacking in Tokyo 2018, we took the bus from Shibuya to Fujisan. It took about an hour bus ride. Arriving at the area without inquiring we took the red tram, guessing it will bring us closer. 30 minutes on the ride we noticed Mt. Fuji is getting smaller, concluding that we are actually getting farther we decided to get the tram back to our original station. Got down and inquire in the ticketing booth and bought cable car tickets. This took us to the top sightseeing platform. The Majestic Fujisan, it’s awesome, just as I expected. Went to see it twice, first in 2018 and second in 2019.
