Rice Terraces Batad

Ifugao, Philippines (2016)

World famous Rice Terraces, checked! It took me a good 4 hours ride up on the roof of jeepney from Sagada to Ifugao. The best place to view this amazing two thousand years old rice terraces is Batad. I could stay here for a good long year if I have time, just the kind of sight I would love to wake up everyday, the breath of fresh air and good balance of food. The only thing that’s tough is that it literally takes my breath away going up the hills. The Ifugao are one of the unique group of people in the Philippines. They are tough ethnic group, mostly known as headhunters, perhaps that’s why the Spaniards were not able to conquer this part of the island. Although most are living a modern life, dressed casual, some wear the bahag for ceremonies and some at tourist places.
