Sukhothai Kingdom
North Central Thailand (2013)
On my way to Chiangmai from Bangkok I decided to spend a day in Sukhothai, a highly referred place to go by LonelyPlanet. I arrived in the bus station at the wee hour of 3 am, I was thinking of spending few hours there till day break but since I already told the AirBnb that I will be arriving early I decided to go straight to the place. I show the driver the address and did not even bother to bargain because I am still sleepy. They have an unusual style of tuktuk there, different from Bangkok, passensers are seated at the front. So off we went and I did not even realized that tropical jungle can actually get cold, so by the time I arrived at the AirBNB I was shivering. The landlord was kind enough to let me in to rest comfortably. After few hours I rented a motorbike and started my whole day journey. I knew it will be an awesome day of Photography and I wasn’t wrong. Kingdom of Sukhothai was the old capital of Thailand that existed in the 12th century. From the ruins I have seen, I sense they are big and powerful kingdom. They have many stupas and Buddha’s sprawled across the kingdom. The next morning, I continue the leg of the journey by bus to Chiangmai.
